This blog is dedicated to sharing things that we think make life better. We will be discussing food/recipes, sharing stories and interviews with people who do great things, tips on marriage and parenthood, and how to live healthy. We work, eat, breathe life to the fullest. We encourage you to "sing songs, plant seeds, live the life, be blessed." This is because we have been fortunate to be around so many vibrant people who have inspired us to not hold back, but do everything 100 percent. We are parents, friends, musicians, artists, writers. We love music, food, friends, and family. Can we encourage you, maybe share something new to enhance your life, or get you to feel like you can live and love more boldly? Let's be givers in life, because like some people say "you can't outgive God, He'll reward you richly."

Shelley's Dream About Eva Singing a Sheila E. Song

Shelley had a dream the other night about Eva.

Shelley send Sheila an e-mail to tell her that.

Here's Shelley's message and Sheila's reply.

hi dear Sheila!
first-HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

i know you are always busy and i never expect a reply therefore, but i just had to share with you a really funny and cool dream i had last night about baby eva on one of my very short hour/half sleeps before i awake to breastfeed her again...she is growing so fast, putting on weight, she's like clockwork every two hours!  i'll send a pic again soonly. her hair just cracks us up!!!

anyway, i think i've mentioned to you before that i sing your fabulous hit Glamorous Life in our dance band's sets (and sometimes Cal and i do it with our acoustic Duo as well), so that being said, it's in my head from as recent as our New Year's eve show, and that night i was running up to our hotel room where my mum and dad were taking care of her until i got there to breastfeed Eva on breaks etc

sorry, back to the dream, so last night, i dreamt that cal and i were both standing over Eva's bassinette and playing with her, she was awake and looking/moving around, and ALL OF A SUDDEN, she sat up and sang the theme in Glam Life, note for note, perfect pitch, in the right key, and did it on a pa pa pa pa pa pa pa pa pa pa paaaaa...pa pa pa pa pa pa pa pa pa, in her lil' cute alto baby voice.
---we both looked at each other and started cracking up and just lost it!  first thing we said was, 'let's call Sheila!'

there ya have it.  it could happen at some point...;>)

Great E-Mail From A Happy Client

Hey, Shelley -

Just a quick note to say thanks so very much, once again, for making Taylor and Kyle's graduation party so memorable... it's astonishing, the number of people who are still commenting on your and Cal's amazing performance - and just how warm, friendly and fun you were, to boot!

I caught your vocals at the Ems (courtesy of UTube!)... and all of us are looking forward to snagging you both for a relaxing evening back here in Cal's old neighborhood...

Hope you and the baby are feeling fantastic!

Sarah

P.S. Taylor (and I suspect Kyle, too) has a card he'd like to send to you both - if you have an address or PO Box you're comfortable sharing, he'll pass it along...

Journal of our Recording of Amazing Grace Summer 2009

We flew into Burbank on Tuesday night July 7. Penny McCoy, label ower and her son Stanton met us at the airport. We got our rental car which is a small SUV and went to Shanie & Denver's house. It was great to see them again. We were tired, and went to bed at around 12:30 by the time we got settled in.

July 8 - We got up and went to The Good Earth restaurant and had a great breakfast. It was such a nice quiet morning. It was the day after Michael Jackson's funeral, and I was surprised it was so mellow. The studio we were to go to was only 5 minutes from where Shanie and Denver live. All along Ventura blvd which is our favorite, and most beautiful part of LA.

We got into the studio at noon and started working on getting a sound for the guitar and bass. Eric wanted us to record the tracks together to get the vibe like we do this live. In the meantime Jeffrey Weber came by, and we had a great chance to talk to him and get to know him. Jeff has produced 175 records including some of the greatest in jazz, and he is such a mellow, friendly guy. He has a law degree, so he combines his desire for people to see justice with helping musicians have a long term career, where they feel valued by the producer, and people they work with.

July 9 - We went into the studio with Eric at around 1 today and re-tracked the guitar and bass. This time, we got the take we wanted. Then Shelley got into doing her vocals. Ian Boxill came by and hung out for a while. He has done a lot of engineering for prince. He is from Trinidad, and a very nice guy.

We worked and worked, Penny came by and we went to the best East Indian restaurant I have ever been to. We went back and started in at 9pm. We were done at 2:45am. We were whooped!!

July 10, 2009 - We are in the studio for the 3rd day now working on Amazing Grace. It truly is amazing grace that brings us to this place. Working with Eric has been just great! He is mellow, cool, fun, friendly, and a true Christian.

Shelley, Eric, and I are working on the vocal parts, and as we listen to the final product at around 1am, we are really excited to hear how it will sound in the final mix.
